Critic Reviews for Jane the Virgin Season 5

All Critics (21) | Top Critics (10)

It was satisfying and moving and I cried, and as a critic, it means so much to see a show land the creative plane this successfully. Jane has been a balm, and as much as it will be missed, what a beautiful sendoff.

While the show is known for its signature twists, colorful narration, and imaginative use of graphics, Jane's monologue encapsulates why the show's merits run deeper than those surface quirks.

This final chapter has managed to capture every way in which we managed to fall in love with this series and its characters...just like any family, we learned to love this series for its flaws and celebrate it for the accomplishments.

The series never loses sight of the three women at its center.

Jane The Virgin aired its series finale last night, and I want everyone here to know that it made me cry real, genuine tears of real emotions because I was touched by the things they were saying and doing.

It is not the best episode of Jane the Virgin. It is not an exceptional or legendary TV finale, but it's the right one, which feels far more appropriate.

In an era of TV marked by mean, often evil men, Jane the Virgin spent five seasons honing a brand of sincere, female-led kindness that separated it from the pack and elevated it to being one of the defining shows of the past decade.

Jane the Virgin is easily the cleverest show on TV. This is a sentiment that's more objective than you might realize, simply because no other show does nearly as much.

If there's an easier show to love than "Jane the Virgin," I can't think of it.

A fitting sendoff filled with unabashed emotion and romance that neatly tied up the loose ends with a big bright bow.

We leave the Villanuevas knowing they're headed into uncharted territory secure in themselves and in how much they care for one another. It's the heartfelt ending they deserve.

Let the record show that drama takes a back seat to wackiness and multiple shots of Jane Villanueva crying when the term "series finale" is attached to the episode.

Audience Reviews for Jane the Virgin: Season 5

It's well written for the social commentary it's trying to push and the actors aren't terrible in it but it lacks that long lasting quality that many of the great shows had.

This show brings all the drama that one needs in a lifetime and more. Gina Rodriguez delivers on the raw feeling of being an aspiring into accomplished writer. The telenovela-esque ending can make an audience feel at ease and gives a 'happily ever-after' glow to this young writer's heart.

Had some exceptional first seasons. Original and funny

The story line is getting old. Jane going from Rafael to Michael and back again. This is getting old

I dont think another show like this had me so hooked I watch all sessions in one go it took a week I watched it till the sun came on a couple of occasions. I Iove how the love thats shared on the show, in my opinon, it was believable. There are families and lovers out there that are truely like this. Their is alot of drama though, abit over the top in some areas but I thought it was still good though and amusing. The ending was what i really wanted to to happen jane and raf to be married...I really really enjoyed this show.

How do you describe how great this show is? The writing? The cast? The sets and costumes? The deep love of genre, literature, culture, and language? The incredibly integrated and thoughtful themes that are woven into the fabric of each episode and character arc for each of the distinct and valuable characters? The puns? Wonderful. There is nothing else like it on TV, but there should be.

The last season was better, but few things were unnecessary like a lot of unrealistic drama

In the sensational denouement to an excellent show, Jane The Virgin wraps a bow around a nearly perfect series. You will miss the characters, performances, and quirkiness. Telenovela humor is the perfect ambiance for the farcical lives of Jane, Alba, Rogelio, Xiomara, Rafael, Petra, Michael and Mateo.

No creo que exista alguna persona que no lloró mirando la última temporada.

Season 5 was definitely the most emotional a show had ever made me. The dreading feeling of season 1's love triangle between Jane, Michael and Rafael was at times too much to handle. Didn't like the "back and forth" nature that Jane had during this time, but everything was righted in the end.
